Student: should have some knowledge of techniques

o Sewing straight lines

o holding fabric correctly

o pockets

o collars

o zipper instalment

o button holes stitching/sewing button on

o how to sew by hand (bring something from home to fix)

o darts/pleats

o pin tucking /elastic techniques(smocking)

o top stitching /in the ditch

o decorative stitches when to use

o how to use an iron (irons will become your best friend when sewing)

o interfacing weight which is best for fabric using

o hemming

o how to measure to fit pattern(s)

o how to read pattern

o how to adjust pattern

o where roller cutter/scissors come in

o starting project always have note book for notes on stitch length, width, design number, foot, colour code for thread used, or class discussions.

Students will require in purchasing pattern and fabric, thread(s), elastic, buttons (all notions) required to produce garment. If you finished project please bring in a repair item from home or purchase new fabric and pattern, WHICH can be made in specific time frame.
